It is important to maintain a formal tone in your writing, that way you catch your reader's attention, and make them want to keep reading more of what you have to say.
It is important because if you have a formal tone through the whole thing you seem more formal and also you don't want to have all different tones throughout everything.
It is important to maintain a formal tone in your writing is because that way your audience really liked what they are reading so that way they will still read it.
It is important to maintain a formal tone in your writing because you do not want to come off as uncaring and unknowledgable. If you use slang and an informal writing style the writing would sound comfortable and uncredible. You want to sound as professional as possible.
It is important to have a formal tone in writing because it makes you sound more sophisticated and that you know what you are talking about. And it makes your reading be able to be appropriate for your audience. It makes you sound more intelligent and to me makes it seem more reliable.
Depends what your writing, sometimes when I read things that are really formal I get bored with it because it seems scripted. If its a relaxed tone that throws words out there usually it keeps my attention longer. So in the end, it just depends what you're writing.
It depends on the subject of your writing. If it's just creative writing, I don't think it's important at all. If it's an essay, or any other type of school assignment, than I think it's necessary. It's important to maintain it in these situations because it makes the paper more sophisticated and it makes you look more educated.
I feel it is important because if you have a formal tone then you come across as smarter. It makes your writing better so that the reader wants to read more.
It's important to keep a formal tone so the audience takes you seriously and makes them think you know what you're talking about. If you use slang words and phrases you'd use to talk to your best friend, no one is gonna take you seriously and they're gonna think you're uneducated. But if you use professional words, they're going to think you're smart and take you're writing seriously.
I feel it is important to maintain a formal tone in your writing because it makes you sound more professional and reliable rather than friendly and incompetent (at times - depending on how informal you actually are). There's a time and place to act a certain way, and when writing to a professional, it is very important to speak in a formal tone.
Hello ladies and gentlemen, how are you on this fine evening? The topic we will be discussing is the use of a formal tone in writing. Formal tones are fitted to the audience you are speaking to. Seeing as I am speaking to a well educated group of people, I am able to use a larger vocabulary and more sophisticated language. If I were speaking to an audience that had a lower level of understanding on certain topics, I would need to be using lower vocabulary so that they could understand the diction I was using.
It is important to keep a formal tone because your tone needs to be appropriate for your subject and audience. Otherwise, your writing becomes unprofessional and could be taken the wrong way.

It is important to keep a formal tone in one's writing so that others will take it seriously. It also conveys the message better. If one writes formally, people will feel a sense of professionalism. Writing informally has the opposite affect. Sophisticated language and formal tone will appeal more to certain audiences than "street" language per say will. (I am just now doing this because I was not in class Wednesday or Thursday.)
