  1. The World State is like today's society by people who do things wrong today get sent to jail, rehab, or a therapist. In the World State, their wrong would be being creative or free-mind and they would send you to and island. This island is like a jail, rehab, or therapist in a way; you can be with people of your own kind and maybe get better.

  2. The people of the World State are endlessly pursuing happiness through different endeavors. In the same way, our cultures is always attempting to improve the quality of life we have. We create new technologies, invent new things for leisure, and advertise a variety of activities we can do to improve ourselves and our lives. Happiness and comfort, I believe, is as much entwined in our culture as it is in the World State.

  3. In the world of state to today's society something they have in common is the soma. In the world of state soma is just something to take to help you calm down, sleep, or anything else. It is basically used to make you feel happy. That is like today's society because everybody has their own escape to make themselves feel better. Some use chocolate, reading, playing sports, or maybe even bad habits like smoking or drugs either way we use this stuff to make use feel better like they did with soma.

  4. One thing that is different about them and us is we have a right to think freely and express our opinion while they get punished and sent to an island if they do that.

  5. The World State thinks everyone should be happy because happiness is the main thing in life. But in today's society we think the opposite. Happiness isn't everything in our life its many other things also.

  6. The world state is a whole lot more controlling than what today's society is. In the world state you cant even have ideals about changing, and even if you do you will be exiled onto one of the islands they exile everyone else who thinks that way. While in today's society it is allowed to think differently and change who you are, but it is still somewhat controlled by the government. We still have laws and guidelines that we have to follow as a human being, but they just aren't as structured as the world state.

  7. The "World's State" is similar to today's society, because in the excerpt, there is a scent organ, that helps keep their atmosphere fresh. This is basically the same thing as a Glad outlet plug-in, that many people have throughout their homes. One aspect that is different between the "World's State" and our society is the fact that we have the ability to change the things we don't like, them on the other hand have to stay at the same job forever.

  8. The world society is some ways is similar to our society in the way that we have a somewhat controlled environment and that we don't like change. However, they are manufacturing human beings and the people have no say what social caste there in and have no say on what job they want. There is overall no free will something that makes this world very different from ours.

  9. The 'World States' has a controller like we do, however their controller has more power over even their everyday lives. I suppose being sent to an Island in the 'World States' is like being exiled or deported.

  10. The world state is different from todays society in the way that they do not view science as helping they view it as destructive and making people unhappy. Also it is different because the amount of control is limiting the people in this world state so much it is like they are little kids. The world state compares with our society because we have punishments like this society does.

  11. The World State and the our society today are similar but different. We do not use all the gases and all the other procedures that they do in the World State. There procedures are more lethal and they are more cruel.

  12. The World State thinks that everyone should be happy because happiness makes the world go round. Today's society, I think, thinks somewhat the opposite. We may need some happiness in our world, but it's more than that to some people. We don't need to mass produce people or brainwash them into thinking that they need to live a certain life. If people lived how they wanted to, then I think they could be happy. The World State doesn't believe that at all. But like The World State, today's society is all about mass production. Without it, we wouldn't be who we are today.

  13. The World State has some similar aspects to today's society. For example, if there is a bad smell, we plug an air freshener into the wall. The World State uses scent organs that project pleasant smells to cover up the bad ones. The World State uses soma for just about everything. We use assorted medicines to counter different conditions and we go on real vacations. They use soma no matter what they are feeling and they go on soma trips for vacations.

  14. The world state is a lot more controlling then are society now because then do not want people thinking for themselves and not being prepared for something bad they just want happy, happy, happy. Its like the controller he like science but it was against their beliefs so he got in trouble for it. In our world today that would be accepted not frowned upon.

  15. The World State keeps and controls others happiness. They make sure that it doesn't get out of hand using soma which is a drug that calms the mind and body. Today we, ourselves, control our own happiness. Everything happens on our own accord and no one really keeps track of it. Just like in our own society, however, some books are banned. In the World State the books banned our those that in a way challenge their own society such as Shakespeare. In today's society some books are banned due to parents or others believing it is irrelevant and non appropriate, etc.

  16. In the World State, people are "forced" into their lifestyle. Each person is placed in a certain group of people and can only do certain things. Each one, for example has a certain jobs they have to do and love. Also, all the people are like adult children because they have to ask for everything they want. In today's society people create their own lives. We can get whatever job we want and do whatever we want without permission.

  17. Comparison of The World State to us could be the scent organ that was on the wall, and an air freshener plugged in the walls of your house. We use them to make the room smell good, and so do they. They just have a different title for it. We differentiate in many ways though. Yes, we do want people in our society to people happy with what they do. We want them to be appreciative of what they have, and what they are given. But we do not physically control these people into doing things that we think would make our people in society "happy." We give our people that sense of freedom and stability; The World State on the other hand, mentally tortures their people in society to doing other things and thinking other things will make them necessarily happy.

  18. In both the World State and in today's society there are drugs used by people as an escape of vacation. The difference between the two is that, in the World State, it is accepted and even promoted to use these drugs. In today's society it is prohibited and considered the crime. This is due to the difference in values between the societies. In the World State happiness is the main focus, so it is okay to use these drugs, but in today's society we focus on ability and getting better, so drugs are not accepted.

  19. Simple pleasures in the "World State" are similar to today's society. Sometimes instruments and soft voices will hum in the people's ears. The scent organ produces pleasant scents for society. When people hear calm music and smell pleasant aromas it soothes them. This keeps the society of the world state from rebellion.

  20. The real world and the "World State" are alike and different in many ways. Some of witch are very complex and difficult to understand. Things like the scent oven resemble items that we use in our every day life. This scent oven is much like our air freshener in the concept that they both are meant to cover up bad scents. They are different however because in the world state the controller chooses the scent that you smell. in the real world the people can just drive to the store and choose from a large variety.

  21. The World State, is very controlling and has the essence of "perfection", nothing can go wrong and nobody can challenge this. However, in today's society, there is freedom of speech and if people do not agree or do not respect any aspects of what is going on, they have the opportunity and the choice to express their opinion, and in the World State to have a different opinion is frowned upon. Also, in today's society, peoples happiness is based upon themselves and their actions and they are responsible for acting this out, whereas the World State happiness is a fee and needs to be bought.

  22. There are many aspects of today's society that are different and similar to The World State society. The World State society made children in factories and when we think or here about this we all think of cars mass producing. They sleep teach children to love society we teach children multiplcation facts. So many things are different.

  23. Compared to our society, The World State had a greater concentration of control then today's society. In present day, we have control over where we live, what we wear, what we listen to, what we feel, where we work, and so much more. In The World State, however, does not allow civilians to chose. Beauty and science is disregarded and contolled in order for change to be irrelevant and nonexistent. This is how the aspect of control contrasts to todays society.

  24. the world state is different from today's society in many ways. in the world state the people are controlled not as much likes robots but children. the government try's to keep them happy with music playing in the houses and scent organs to keep a good odor. in todays society we have a lot more control over our lives and chances to do something with our lives.
