In my opinion I believe that Australian should be portrayed as the villains in stories. This is because imagine all of the things they could use against the hero. They could use all the nope animals that they have over in Australia. An example would be the nope spider, the nope snake, and every other horrible nope animal over there. Just imagine, the villain torturing you to death with a huge nope spider crawling around on you with its babies everywhere. It's actually pretty terrifying.
There is no politically safe option for picking villains. By choosing a specific country and labeling them as the 'villain country', this sets false assumptions for all people from the country, which is obviously not true. Villains can be any person from any country, it's not specific towards a specific nationality.
The best country to make all fictional villains is not Russia. This is because they are too busy dealing with the freezing cold and the bears to carry out nefarious plots. So as a replacement we should use Canadians as villains. This is because they wouldn't care that they would be portrayed as bad guys because they are too nice to argue against it. Then the way the peaceful Canadians would become evil is because they are finally fed up with being so nice all the time, and have finally decided to become bad.
Each place has there own stereotype but what if the country was know for villains? I think Russia would be home of the villains. This is a cold place and not very populated so i believe most people would do more crime there. They would believe that since it isn't populated that they could get away with different crimes.
I have read many books were the villain's are all from different places. In my favorite series, the villain was from India; the whole book was based in India though, too. If I was righting a book I don't know where my villain will be from. At one point I was actually writing a book but the villains were not from this world. They looked like us but they weren't us.
I don't think it matters where the villain in movies are from. There are bad people everywhere in the world so it really doesn't make a difference what country they are from.
Fictional villains should be from the county of Liechtenstein. Liechtenstein is one of the world's smallest country. Besides, it's a fun word to say and the first three letters spell 'Lie.' The fictional villains could live in their small country side in paradise. Having a single country for all villains would make the world more aware of them. Then again, the villains probably wouldn't like living all together due to the competition of taking over the world.
I think that fictional villains should come from Germany because things there in the past have just been awful. Like so bad that they look at history books and are just like "well, we messed up here, here, and we massed up really bad here." Silly Germany.
Movies shouldn't make villains from a certain country because that country was once our political enemy. If that was so, the villain in the movies made today would be from the middle east. It's wrong to call out another country as the enemy, even if it is a movie. It may be political acceptable, but it shouldn't be morally acceptable.
I don't understand the importance of the nationality of a villain. The evil and utter destruction the villain causes is not because he/she is from a certain country, but rather from an emotional tragedy in their childhood, the betrayal of a close friend, etc. No matter what country a person is from, they can become evil and villainous. Any country is a viable one for a villain to be from, because it truly doesn't matter. Evil is evil.
I don't think you could really have a "politically safe" option. The acceptable country in my opinion would have to be Germany. When I personally hear Germany I think of what they did durning WWll. Germany would have to be the country I would have a villain from.
I dont agree with Steven Kurutz by him saying that all villains being from Russia. People in that country take offense to that. That can be taken as him being racist against the people of that race. or maybe he doesn't like the country. either way, i do not agree with what the author of this piece.
There is no safe way to pick villains from a specific country because no matter what, you are going to offend someone. However if I was to make a villain I would make them from North Korea, because come on they hate us anyway.
I think that fictional villains should be from Russia. Russians are just the type of people that have that accent that makes you feel insecure about what you are doing. They are in a lot of movies and they play bad guys as well.
Honestly, I think they use them because of the accent. It has a harsh sound to it and I assume that is why they use it. However, I have read plenty of books were one of the protagonist was Russian. That being said you can't really get someone in trouble for how they imagine or interpret there character. It is there vision and if they decide that they want to be Russian then I expect that it is fine. To be completely honest, does it really matter where the villain is from? They're still evil, we still don't like them. Everyone has a certain country that they think is more evil than the other; however, it is really the authors opinion on who they want to portray as the villain. I feel that any country is fine as long as they have good enough reason to put them in that position.
Fictional villains should be from wherever they want them to be from. I think it doesn't really matter. It shouldn't be narrowed down to a specific country.
The country of which a villain is from does not matter, there will always be good and bad people in every country. The country does not matter, but how the person acts. People are either an "evil" person or an "angel" person, that's how it should be portrayed rather than stereotyping.
A true villain should relate to the reader and feel realistic and hold all the roles of a true antagonist. If you successfully accomplish this it should not matter what race or species the villain is.
my first thought for a country that villains are formed was Russia also, so in my opinion it is okay. I believe this because Russia is know for big, tall, tough, scary guys. another country that would be good for known villains would be Vatican city.
I can't pick a specific country that villains will come from because somebody can do something bad no matter where they are located on Earth. It doesn't matter where they are from but how they act. They can come from anywhere.
I don't think that it is politically correct, or acceptable to have one specific "villain country" No matter what country it is, someone would take offense to it. There is bad everywhere so it doesn't really matter about a certain one in movies, but they should switch it up occasionally.
I think that it makes sense for the Russians to be villains because they are just so hardcore that they take what they want. I think it's unrealistic that the Russians somehow always lose, because, well, they're Russians. Villains could also be Dutch, because they're Dutch.
I think fictional villains should come from United Kingdom. I don't really have reasoning for it other than when they speak they intimidate me with their wonderful accents. Mr. Brooks always talks about how British people are more smart alec and less emotional than Americans. That could be a good villain. However, even though some old British guy may seem pretty intimidating I think the scariest villain is just a regular American citizen. That makes the story line more personal and makes things seem more real to us because we can relate to what the villain is saying.
I don't think there should be a a specific "Villain country". There are villains everywhere so putting a country as, where villains come from is offensive. They should switch up the villain characters from every country because evil is everywhere.
I think that all countries should be in this category because everyone has evil, some may be more than others. I don't think that we should point out one particular country because that is being bias and unfair for that country as well.
I don't think this is politically correct because people can be "villains" everywhere. If I had to choose a country though, I would choose Germany. I chose Germany typically because Hitler was from Germany and the Nazis and so that is the only "evil" country I can think of. In my opinion though I don't think one country should be considered "evil" or with "villains".
Because Russians are hardcore and do what they want. They dont really show alot of emotion and so you dont know what they are thinking. I dont think you could really put villians from a certain country because there are bad people everywhere. You cant go somewhere where there is not a bad person.
I don't think it would be right to make just one specific country a "villain country" I say this because every country has done something to effect another country, so wouldn't all the countries be some what "villain countries". I don't think one specific one should be picked, But I think maybe America has picked Russia as the "villain country" because they did have one of the biggest impacts on our country.
I don't see Russians as a politically safe option. Answering this question would offend someone and we wouldn't want another war to start. I could see Russians as being villains because their accents are very strong and intimidating. They should just make up a country's name and have it as a universal place where villains come from so no one gets offended.
I don't see any harm in having politically safe villains from certain countries. Every country has a different culture, some softer, some harsher, and this is why most villains come from certain countries. Now, at the same time, I feel like there should be more villains from Bardstown, Kentucky! Our villains would be tractor driving, shovel hacking, axe throwing, crazy, serial killers that would excite the audience! Who doesn't love a typical, "kids stay the night in old farm house and end up getting hacked to pieces" movie? You never see a villain from Switzerland. I feel like we need a villain from Switzerland! What a contradiction! It would be absolutely hilarious!
If I were to choose a country that fictional villians were from, I would have to choose Russians. But honestly, anyone around could be a villian because there are a lot of bad and cruel people around the world who do bad things, so I'm not really considering a certain type of person, but if I had to pick, I would pick Russians.
I do not think there is an acceptable option of a country to have all villains come from. In my opinion you cannot just categorize all people into a country because everyone is different; even the evil villains. I think it would be stereotypical to say that all villains come from one country or to make it so because that would put a negative connotation on that country. I do not think there is a "politically safe" answer to this question because someone would have a problem with it somewhere. Nobody would be able to compromise on just one country and then everyone would just get upset about it. If I was writing a story I would not reveal where the villain is from because I do not think that is relevant in the story considering the fact that they would still be a villain.
i do not think that the fictional villains should come from a certain country because some people might not like the fact that they are coming from different countries. But some people are very good people.
I really don't feel that making villains from Russia is okay. It is stereotypical and it may cause tension between the two countries. I feel like there is no one certain country that a villain should be from. But, if I were writing a story with a villain, he/she would be from China. There is really no politically safe option when creating a villain from another country. It just allows people to hate on that country and stereotypicalize that particular place. There is no acceptable country. If, in America, we're going to use natives of another country, we should do it from several different countries not pointing out one country in particular. This will cause too much tension and the last thing we need is a war.
I believe all villains should be from Vatican City. This particular country comes to mind because it is the world's smallest country and is not even a square mile. Villains should naturally be from this country because when your home country is so tiny, you should have an urge to "take over zee whole world." The only problem I find with this is that the population (less than 1000) is composed of no permanent residents. (But then again, when you think about it... Really, none of us are ever permanent residents *Bum Bum Bummmm!*) But yes, even though no one is technically "from" Vatican City, that makes it socially acceptable because no one's feelings will ever get hurt.
Probably Al Qaeda or just people from India. probably the Japenese, and probably the Nazis/Germans. I would probably keep the Russians as villains also.
It is not okay to deem Russians as "politically safe citizens" because it's not fair to say that Russians are all villains- they're not bad people, therefore they shouldn't be seen as people who would do wrong in our world when, in fact, they're human beings... just with different personalities. There is NO acceptable country in my opinion because you can't just define all people from one country as villains based on one person or from a war that happened centuries ago. It's kind of offensive, to be honest...
It's incredibly offensive, actually. Pay attention to the types of villains in pop culture, however. Unpopular countries often get demonized in the media. They are usually presented as incredibly ridiculous stereotypes, and caricatures. The next time you notice this, pay attention to the context of the work's time-it can tell you a lot about public attitudes.
I think they should be Russian because they are really cool. They're cool because the talk cool and Mexicans are from everywhere that speaks Spanish and that's where i want my villain to be from so they are really tan and talk really cool. haha
I think villains should come from Google chrome books, they are sooooo slow. Okay maybe that doesn't make sense; but bad guys come from everywhere, of course said the horse.
I think that there isn't really a "politically safe" option as to which country the villain should be from but, hey, somebody has got to be the villain. We can't all be rainbows and sunshine. If I made a villain he would be from Australia cause there's a bunch of big poisonous creature there and I feel like they could most definitely use that to their advantage.
I do not believe that antagonists should be from one specific country. This does not seem right to me, but if I were to choose a country I would probably stick with the Russians. I have nothing against them, don't get me wrong, it's just that accent! It sounds all menacing and evil like (I know that you can't hear what I'm thinking in my brain, but that last sentence was said thought in Russian). It's really cold in Russia (I think... or maybe it's just a horrible stereotype), and I feel like you must be pretty tough to go through all of that cold.
If i had to choose a county for fictional villains it'd be Pakistan. There are a lot of other countries but since we've had a war with them for a while I'd say they'd fit
I would pick Antarctica for villains to come from. No one actually lives there so you can't hurt anyone really. There are really bad people everywhere but you can't hurt a nation because no one lives there.
I don't see any problem with politically safe villains they are from countries that we are usually in conflict with all the time anyways so doesn't really matter if they get offended. Besides I'm sure were the villains in many of their movies.
In my opinion I believe that Australian should be portrayed as the villains in stories. This is because imagine all of the things they could use against the hero. Just imagine, the villain torturing you to death with a huge nope spider crawling around on you with its babies everywhere. It's actually pretty terrifying.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention the flying nope spider.
DeleteI believe that it is ok for the villain in a movie to be Russian because its just a movie. I think that more villains should be North Korean though.
